Lunch & Learn: Being First in Your Family for College

October 1, 2020 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Congratulations!  You’re first!  Being first in your family to attend college is a HUGE accomplishment, but it can also feel very overwhelming in some ways, too.  The good news?  You’re not a lot alone and a lot of colleges have amazing support programs for students just like you!

The term “First-Generation” has become somewhat of a buzz word in the Admissions world over the last couple of decades, but what does it really mean? Join Aaron Ray, assistant director for student outreach at Skidmore College as he shares his personal experience navigating college as a first-generation student as well his experience working with first-generation students at Skidmore College.

Join ASP and Skidmore College for a conversation about those feelings, fears, and firsts that can help you get ready for this next big step and what it will mean for you and your family.

Skidmore College is an affordable 4-year college in Saratoga Springs, New York where many of our ASP scholars have found an amazing home and support community.  Come learn why it should be on your list – and what you should be thinking about and asking colleges as you navigate this year of firsts!
