Jamari Bass

Jamari Bass is excited to return for her second year as a College Advisor at Irma Rangel YWLS. Bass graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English and a minor in Sociology in 2022.
A DFW native, Bass is familiar with the inequities that come with being part of a marginalized group. In high school, her “college advisor” was also the cheer coach who only talked to students in honors classes. The college application process was an exercise in independence and self-advocacy, and Bass witnessed the majority of her graduating class get left behind. Bass hopes to encourage the students she works with to not only advocate for themselves but for their peers as well.
When she isn’t working to make higher education accessible for all, she is usually roller skating, playing video games, or being terrorized by her cat, Rei.
