Sarah Kinnard is a first-generation college graduate and is excited to work with students and families at North Lake Early College High School. Originally from rural Springtown, TX (about one hour from DFW), she graduated from Colgate University as a Questbridge Scholar with a bachelor’s degree in Peace & Conflict Studies and Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies. As a former dual credit student herself who graduated high school with an Associate’s degree from Weatherford College, she has experience navigating the transition between early college and pursuit of a 4-year degree.
Ms. Kinnard believes language is a powerful tool and seeks to wield its power in advocating for the students at North Lake. She is passionate about access to education and has previously worked with immigrant and refugee populations in Jordan hoping to gain access to new opportunities by learning English as a second language. Having come from a family unfamiliar with the intricacies of the college application process, her college advisor played an essential role in helping her graduate debt-free and she now hopes to help others do the same.
In her spare time she enjoys reading novels, playing video games, and writing poetry.
