This year marks Luci Herod’s 5th school year with ASP at Sunset High School, and she is excited to serve as the lead college advisor! Mrs. Herod was born and raised in Plano, TX, and is a first generation college graduate. She went to the University of North Texas and received her Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. Being that Mrs. Herod was the first member of her family to attend and graduate from a four year university, she knows firsthand the struggles of navigating each step of the college process. Mrs. Herod was not provided the proper assistance she needed when applying for college, which led to her passion for helping students. She wants to be a voice and mentor to her students and show them that anything is possible with the right guidance and dedication!
After school, you will find Mrs. Herod going to coffee shops, crafting, traveling, spending time with loved ones, and collecting various trinkets. She can’t wait to be back at Sunset for another amazing year! Bo’ Up!
Andrea Posada

Andrea Posada is excited to return as a college advisor at Sunset High School. After graduating from Claremont McKenna College with a Bachelors in Government and Economics, she is looking forward to being back in her hometown of Dallas to help students and their families navigate the college process. As a graduate of Townview Magnet Center in DISD, she understands the importance of having support during the college process. During her time at Claremont McKenna, she was passionate about being a mentor to students and helping them access resources about academic success, mental health, and emotional wellness.
As a first-generation college student, she understands how overwhelming it can become to seek out an institution that fulfills a student’s and family’s needs. Her experience as an alum of the ASP program means she understands the impact that college guidance can have on students and their future. She is passionate about bridging the gap between the college process and students and their families and is excited to connect with students about their goals.
Beyond education accessibility, Andrea loves to read, go thrifting and to estate sales, and finding ramen spots!
Jan Cordero

Janett Cordero is so excited to be an ASP college advisor at Sunset High School. A proud first-generation college graduate and former DISD student, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Denison University, along with a minor in psychology and a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. During her college career she served as a Spanish teaching assistant, which sparked her passion for education and mentoring.
As a graduate of a university that meets 100% of demonstrated financial need, she understands the importance of making college accessible for all students. Having graduated from Townview Magnet Center, she is excited to reconnect with the Dallas community and assist families through the college application process.
In her free time, Janett enjoys making pottery, going to the movie theater, and trying new restaurants!
Jesus Romero

Jesus Romero is excited to be an ASP advisor at Sunset High School. Jesus was raised by a single mother in the Pleasant Grove sector of Dallas, Texas and is a graduate of Skyline HIgh School. He went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin earning a Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Government while minoring in Social Behavioral Sciences.
While at the University of Texas at Austin, Jesus was active in an after school mentoring program called Project MALES where he was able to help middle school students get back on track with their academics and become more involved with their school community. Jesus also joined Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Incorporated where he had the honor of being a two time big brother to newer members to assist with onboarding, academic transitions, and personal development.
In Jesus’ free time he is either out enjoying time with his mom, brother, and two sisters or inside of his garage doing something automotive related. He is very passionate about uplifting his community and helping the youth succeed in their goals.
