Dakari Butler is more than excited to serve her third year as an ASP College Advisor!

Dakari grew up in the DFW metroplex. In high school, she was not provided with a non-profit committed to aiding in the college application process like ASP. Without additional help, the application process was overwhelming at times. Despite this, Dakari graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts.

Although she is grateful she was able to apply independently, she does not want the next generations of scholars to do the same. Especially 1st generation low-income students, who are most in need. Looking back on her time applying for college, she understands that she would have had more access to opportunities if she just had additional guidance. Dakari is dedicated to ensuring that students are aware of every option and opportunity available to them.

Anthony Mata is thrilled to serve as a College Advisor at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Raised in a small town near Austin, Texas, he moved to the Dallas area to pursue a degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.

As a first generation student, he experienced firsthand the difficulties that can affect students. He has served in higher education as a Student Financials Specialist, and most recently, a Financial Literacy Program Specialist. He wants to use his personal and professional experience to help students in this crucial time in their lives.

In his free time, he is likely playing video games, watching his favorite shows and sports with his partner, or spoiling his cat, Chichen.
