Originally from West Philadelphia, I serve as the Lead College Advisor at Justin F. Kimball High School. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a concentration in Peace and Justice Studies from Gettysburg College.
I love asking questions! As a first-generation college graduate, I once wondered how I would get to college and how I would succeed once I got there. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how many opportunities are missed because a student never realized they were capable. Can one conversation change the course of a life?
While I believe talent is EVERYWHERE, opportunity is not always as visible. Many students underestimate what they are capable of simply because no one encourages them to think beyond what’s familiar. I believe in helping students shape and recognize their own possibility.

Now entering my seventh year as a college/career consultant, I am not afraid to challenge students to dream bigger than what they thought was possible, and to encourage them to pursue what they might have thought was out of reach. I work with ALL students and families to navigate various post-graduate pathways.
I believe every student deserves someone who will advocate for them, challenge them, celebrate their success, and remind them that their circumstances do not define their future.

Cris Ramirez is excited to serve as a college advisor for Kimball High School. As a Pleasant Grove native, and a graduate of DISD, Cris graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Science in Global Arts, Planning, Design, and Construction while also doing a double minor in Performance Studies and Art with a Digital Media emphasis.
During undergrad, he became involved in mentorship programs that focused on providing first-year students with a support system during their transition into higher education. He was also very involved in advocating for students of underrepresented communities and strongly believes everyone should have the opportunity to receive an education regardless of their background. Having been a first-generation student himself, he understood the importance of having guidance in navigating the college application process and is now ready to provide that support to his students and their families in his 5th year of college advising.
In his free time, Cris enjoys modifying and performing maintenance on his cars, expanding on his photography portfolio, and running in preparation for racing events. He hopes to take his passions to different corners of the world.
