Rhoman Elvis is looking forward to serving as the Lead ASP College Advisor at L. G. Pinkston High School. He grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland, and is a first-generation student who attended Colgate University for his bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in teaching.

Before becoming a College Advisor, he student-taught fourth- and fifth-graders in upstate New York and worked as a Graduate Assistant at Colgate’s Cultural Center. Through his graduate and undergraduate experiences, he learned about the importance of meeting students where they are, not underestimating what students bring to the table, and the importance of multicultural representation in schools. These experiences reinforced for Rhoman how important it is for students to have someone in their corner who believes in them, meets them where they are, and helps them see possibilities they may not have considered for themselves.

He is passionate about working with students, with a career goal of helping bring about positive change to the American school system. Rhoman wants all students to know that there are no such things as “dumb” questions when it comes to the college admissions process and that he is committed to being there every step of the way. It was through this access to guidance that Rhoman was able to attend and graduate from a prestigious school like Colgate, and now, being on the other side of that experience, he wants to give back and make that a reality for all students who may not have that opportunity.

In his free time, Rhoman enjoys going on runs, watching sunsets, hanging out with friends, and eating food (mainly Indian cuisine). You can reach him at relvis@aspdallas.org.

Daniela Guzman is incredibly thrilled to serve as an ASP College Advisor at Dr. L. G. Pinkston High School! Born and raised in Oak Cliff, she is a proud DISD alum and is a first-generation college graduate.

With the guidance of her ASP advisor, she attended Boston College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. As the first in her family to graduate from a four-year college, Daniela understands firsthand the importance of having someone to guide and believe in you throughout the college application process. As the eldest daughter of an immigrant family, her family is her greatest motivation, and she is passionate about paying forward the support she received.

Daniela believes deeply in the power of mentorship. Before becoming a college advisor, Daniela worked with the Dallas community and saw the impact that mentorship and service can have on others. Daniela is drawn to ASP because she believes every student deserves the support and resources to navigate the college application process. She knows that every student has what it takes to go far, and sometimes they just need someone to believe in them.

In her free time, she enjoys talking with friends, watching animated movies and creating music playlists.
