I am thrilled to be serving the students of Seagoville High School as they embark on their journeys to college success. Growing up, my family migrated from Nigeria to the United States when I was just one year old. I spent the first half of my life in Maryland before moving to Texas in 2011. Since then, I have been enjoying establishing my life here in Texas. I had the privilege of attending the University of Houston, where I received a B.S. in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology. During my time there, I was able to immerse myself in many humanities courses that gave me great insight into the struggles that underrepresented individuals and minorities face due to deeply ingrained, oppressive systems. While at the University of Houston, I also had the opportunity to mentor at-risk elementary students, building trusting relationships with my mentees in order to equip them with the social and educational skills necessary to succeed. After graduating college, I had the opportunity to offer behavioral therapy services to children with Autism before obtaining the role as a College Advisor with ASP. Through my collegiate and professional experience, I have gained a desire to be a voice for individuals who are often silenced and advocate for the just treatment of all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances.

In my free time, I enjoy serving in my church, lifting weights, trying different food spots with friends (I absolutely love to eat!), and experimenting with makeup and clothes. As an advisor, I am looking forward to bringing positive energy to my role, while also cultivating meaningful relationships with the students and assisting them in achieving their goals.

Kristen Phillips is ready to help the students of Seagoville High School achieve their higher education goals! A little about Kristen; although born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas she left home just a few short hours away to attend Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) in the Fall of 2018, majoring in International Studies.

During her second year in school, she started working with the university’s admissions office to provide a current student perspective to prospective students! This was where her love for higher education began! After helping her university for three years, she was ready to inspire more students! She’s excited to answer questions from parents and support students through their individual college processes, watch them shine wherever they go, while also making it affordable!

Outside of her love for helping students, during the Fall season find her watching every second of every college football game, especially the Aggies! She’s a big traveler and has been very blessed to have seen many parts of the world, her favorite being Istanbul, Turkey (a study abroad she did in school)! When she’s not traveling or watching a game she’s spending time with family or practicing her makeup skills! Don’t be shy, come say hi to Ms. Kristen Phillips!

Princesa Tinajera

Princesa Tinajera is excited to return as a college advisor for Seagoville High School! She is a Dallas native and DISD Alum. She graduated from Seagoville High School back in 2015. Ms. Tinajera went on to graduate from the University of North Texas with a BA in English – Creative Writing and a minor in Psychology. As a first-generation student coming from a low-income household, she wants to ensure every student has access to higher education. She knows first-hand that navigating the college process can sometimes deter students from continuing their educational journey, but she wants to be a valuable resource for students walking the same halls she once roamed.
